Benefits of Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate and its main ingredient, cocoa, appear to reduce risk factors for heart disease. Flavanols in cocoa beans have antioxidant effects that seem to reduce cell damage implicated in heart disease. In addition, some research has linked chocolate consumption to reduced risks of diabetes, stroke and heart attack.
Dark chocolate has the maximum amounts of health promoting antioxidants. It is without added milk fats, nor large amounts of sugar.
Disclaimer: It is not true to say therefore that all chocolates are good for health. Don't use this as an excuse to sneak more chocolate bars into your fridge at home! The sugar content and the type of chocolate makes a difference.
